POSITION: Assistant Professor

OFFERED WAGE: $72,000.00 per year
JOB DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in journalism and mass communications. Hold regular office hours per university and department policies. Responsible for advising students, conducting academic research, and publishing scholarly journals in high quality journals and conferences. Develop internship opportunities and supervise master’s theses. Develop and maintain an active research program and secure external funding as appropriate for research and academic discipline. Present at conferences, participate in departmental meetings, and engage in faculty governance by serving on school and university committees. Work in the new broadcast studio, supervise field production, and work with the student broadcast chapter.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Ph.D. in mass communication, journalism, film or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 4 months (one academic semester) as an Assistant Professor, or related position teaching electronic media at the university level and 4 months as a News Reporter, Editor, or related position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The 8 months of experience must include professional experience in TV (reporting, producing, directing, shooting, and editing video) including studio production; digital media production and non-linear video editing experience; and must have scholarly research experience or creative endeavors in mass communication.
